The Black Phone Horror
Scott Derrickson's contained scarefest remains effective even without a follow-up. Taking place in the late 70s in Denver, multiple child abductions has rendered the local kids anxious. The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the struggle between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for materialism in this director's wonderfully garish biopic about the fallen televangelist and her criminal husband. The actor portrays the greedy Jim, who proclaims at the beginning, claiming divine approval for wealth. Both individuals commence profiting from the people's religious faith. It's an extravaganza of poor styling, bad makeup and insincerity, yet Chastain achieves to present Tammy Faye as a sympathetic figure. Tuesday 14 October, 1.15am, the Film4 channel
